Who is GENIUS?

The Gastroenterology Network of Intestinal Ultrasound (GENIUS) is a group of Gastroenterologists with an interest in increasing the awareness, training and practice of Intestinal Ultrasound (IUS) in Australia.

Advocate

We strive to build local knowledge and acceptance of IUS as a reliable diagnostic tool in the diagnosis and management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Educate

We aim to educate and provide training opportunities for those persons interested in Intestinal Ultrasound through our network and collaboration with the International Bowel Ultrasound Group.

Build Knowledge

We participate in individual and collaborative research efforts to increase the body and quality of data on IUS for use in Inflammatory, and other, bowel diseases.

What is IUS?

Intestinal ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic test that allows visualisation of the bowel wall and surrounding structures. It requires no pre-test preparation and can be completed as a point of care test during consultation. It is accurate in the diagnosis and management of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
